With an eclectic blend of conflicting sounds, Krrum has created an irresistibly catchy tune with his second single ‘Evil Twin’, by craftily layering them all around a funk-filled groove.
The Leeds boy is gearing up to the release of his debut EP, due out in just a couple of months’ time, and first springing lead track ‘Morphine’ on us a few weeks back. A dark, brooding track with a powerful soul, the oscillating atmosphere and understated guitar lines fit well with the lyrical theme of struggling to let go.
‘Evil Twin’ kicks his sound into a different territory – the classy horns in the intro instantly collide with a devilishly funky bassline that bounces throughout the track. Sporadic, subtlety used sampling, frequently varying percussion and Krrum’s soothing, soulful vocals all have a key part to play in making it impossible to sit still to this one. With the savvy style in which it’s all been intertwined, you’ll be sure to keep this one on repeat.
